| Monthly Highlights – April 2009 |

| 1.Training Programmes |
|
| Training programmes for the year 2009-10 commenced in the third week of April 2009. Five in-Campus training programmes with a total participation of 91, were conducted. This included a programme on ‘Exposure Visit to Cooperative Credit Institutions’ for 15 participants from The Phillipines. A two day customized programme was also conducted for participants from Aryavart GB on Farmers Club and Technology Transfer. |

| 2. Impact Evaluation study & Preparation of Case Study: |
|
An Impact Evaluation of Training Programme on auditing a Computerised Branch was completed during the month. It was found that 95% of the participants were able to prepare and amend their audit checklist and 89% were able to decrease their reliance on Branch Managers while auditing a computerized branch. A case study on ATMs has also been prepared for dissemination in the programmes. |

| 3.Centre for Professional Excellence in Cooperatives ( C-PEC) : |
|
We had invited twelve faculty members from ACSTIs / ICMs / RICM / VAMNICOM for a week from 20-25 April 2009 for finalizing the following: |

• |
Draft Parameters for Accrediting training institutes imparting training to personnel of the short term cooperative credit structure. |
• |
Draft Course Module for a certification Course for Trainers and also finalizing the modalities of giving assignments to enrolled candidates, evaluating them, arranging contact classes and conducting examinations. |
• |
Draft Examination Rules and Regulations for various certificate courses viz. Certified Trainer for Financial Cooperatives, Certified Cooperative Bankers (Level – I), Certified Cooperative Bankers (Level–II) and Certified PACS Secretary. |
The officers of C-PEC and a Faculty Member coordinated/facilitated the process The above will be placed before a panel of experts from NCCT, VAMNICOM, SCBs, ACSTIs, RICMs / ICMs, GTZ, BIRD and NABARD, HO in the month of May / June 2009. |

| 4.Centre for Micro Finance Research (CMR): |
|
A Coordination cum Review meeting for reviewing the activities of the sub centres was held on 13 April 2009 under the chairmanship of Shri S.K. Mitra, Executive Director, NABARD. The activities of the sub centres during 2008-09 were reviewed and certain understanding in the matter of reimbursement of expenses of sub centres was arrived at. The sub centres agreed to claim for reimbursement of salary of researchers only from the day of commencement of their first research study and also agreed to bear other expenses like office maintenance, security, electricity, postage etc. They were advised to submit the budget for 2009-10 with an activity plan for prior approval. |

| 5.Faculty Development: |

Two Faculty Members, Dr. G Mani and Shri Vivek Sinha attended a one day workshop on ‘Food Safety and Traceability’ on 8 April 2009 at NBSC. |
• |
Three Faculty Members, S/Shri R V Swamy, S V Nemlekar and Vivek Sinha attended a training programme on ‘Strengthening Management Skills (MR) – Compliance to Excellence’ conducted by CII institute of Quality from 15-17 April 2009 at New Delhi. |
• |
Shri Dathathree, FM attended a programme on Financial Inclusion from 23-24 April 2009 at NBSC. |

| 6.Literacy page on website: |
|
Articles related to HR and NFS areas have been collated and put together in two booklets namely ‘Voice of the Hour’ and ‘News and Views of NFS’ respectively every month. Now we have updated the same on our website in the literacy page and the same has received good response. |
